JiveWorld Conference Announcements 2017

JiveWorld 17 - Announcements

Las Vegas May 1-3
Jive had a few big announcements during this conference that surprised me and reinstilled faith in their platform.
First, they announced they were being acquired by Aurea, a CX company. (TechCrunch).   This from the standpoint of product suites looks to be a great merger for both companies of similar size.    In the end, fingers crossed it will benefit the platform and customers.

Second, they made a few bold road map announcements during their Product Keynote.    The net of the enhancements in my opinion they will remove the barrier between external and internal communities with cross network permissions and entitlements providing a simpler why to work across multiple communities with one data SOR avoiding duplicate content.

All in all, I am excited to see what comes next from the Jive platform specifically for external communities.

Below are a few examples of Jive External Communities:

JiveWorld 2017 in Las Vegas

I'm off to JiveWorld 2017 held in Las Vegas every year bringing together customers and prospect to unveil new product features.

Jive has rolled out a few products over the past few years.  I'm looking forward to seeing how far their new cloud platform is working for external communities.  I've been breaking down the differences between versions to see if they have made strides away from being intranet or internal focused.

More to come post conference.

A year ago we had the original Fitbit wearable but the wrist wrap continued to pop off so we returned Fitbit Charge2 has an actual watch band securing the wearable while working out.   The new app works great and syncs with an app we use at work called Virgin Pulse.

CES 2017 - What's Hot this Year

Remember Comdex?    Me too but now CES only exists every year early January where startups, established businesses come together to showcase new products for the upcoming year.

This year is no different, so what is hot coming into 2017.

  • Huge 4K TVs that are incredibly thin.
  • Mobile Phone Upgrades
  • Photography Upgrades
  • Tri-screen Laptop who want to go big?
  • Cars - from cool tech to auto driving technologies
  • Smart Appliances and IoT
  • Wireless and Networking
  • Smart Wearable and Wireless Headphones
  • Drones and more cool toys

Many of these technologies are carry-overs from last years which gained steam over the holidays.   When I see TVs growing to 80 inches, I think of all of the small apartments in SF I had over the years and think, "Where the hell is that going to fit?"

Mobile Phones will continue to grow faster loaded with more memory and ram to meet the demands
CES 2017 Las Vegas
and run complicated apps and games.    The current handset market cover smaller phones to the oversized plus versions from the big three (Apple, Samsung and Windows.)

The car market is ripe to for technologies like on-board wifi, secure networks connected to your local shop,  entertainment pods and more.   I love cars and tech so I'm really excited to see what comes next.

Wearables are here and getting better.  I've had a fitbit and returned it because it was falling off so I waited for a new version with a watch style band.   It recently arrived so I'm on the fence of which one to buy.    The new fitbit is on the top of my list based on the new features including integrated GPS and tie ins into so many third party applications.

Stay tuned for more CES Reviews.
